Dance India Dance is a dance contest that appears on Zee TV, now for 2 seasons. It is one of the few shows (like Indian Idol on Sony) that gives a chance to normal people to show off their skills, in this case, their Dance skills (and in fact, there is no other show that allows ordinary people to show off their dancing skills). It has become fairly popular, attracting a huge amount of attention and ensuring that contestants spend a lot of time preparing for the show, showing dancing skills that are incredible. Now, when you look at some of the finalists, they seem as good as people you see in the movies, and prepare some incredible acts.
Dance India Dance has had a number of celebrity guests such as: Salman Khan, Dia Mirza, Amitabh Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Govinda Ahuja, Helen, Arshad Warsi, Jeetendra, Boman Irani, Ritesh Deshmukh, with the judges being Terence Lewis, Remo D'Souza and Geeta Kapur. In addition, Mithun Chakraborty is the Grandmaster of the show, and even has veto powers to use once in the show to change a decision.
After a lot of steps, the last 4 finalists were:
Shakti Mohan, 24 (Mumbai)
Dharmesh Yelande, 27 (Vadodara)
Punit Pathak, 23 (Mumbai)
Binny Sharma, 22 (Ahmedabad)
The final was a long affair (and maybe the show organizers should ensure that the finals should never be so long that they lose the attention of viewers. We started watching the program, but lost interest midway and switched on again only at the end).

Hindi Serial - Dance India Dance - Remo engraves tattoo in Saddi Dilli - Visit to Delhi
Mentor and Choreographer Remo D’Souza gets a “JESUS” tattoo inked on his right forearm while he was in town for the DID L’il Masters auditions. The choreographer, who is fond of tattoos was enthralled after he saw a crew member coming to sets after getting a tattoo done. He couldn’t stop himself to visit “Devilz Tattooz” in south delhi and get one done. On this Remo says, “Things close to me, I get them inked on me. I have already three tattoos on me and this one will take the count to four.” He adds, “Lokesh is one of the famous tattoo makers in the country and I am planning to get one more done on my left arm in my next visit.” Geeta Kapoor who was also in town was supposed to join Remo however she was quite scared of the pain. The crew members tried to convince her but all in vain, though she promised that when she comes next, then will get it done.
Delhi, which is not used to celebrity galore in our regular markets unlike Mumbai, so when Remo with his wife Lizelle entered M Block, Greater Kailash-1, everyone were amazed to see their favorite master cum choreographer & started pulling Remo to get a snap clicked. One young lady from behind, who was unable to reach due to huge crowd which guarded him, was shouting- “Remo I Love you”. Remo too much of female fans it seems... Lizelle you listening…

Hindi Serial - Dance India Dance - When participants of Season 1 shook a leg with participants of Season 2
The latest episode of Zee TV’s Dance India Dance features last year’s most popular finalists of the show shaking a leg with the top 7 finalists of the ongoing season. So you have the likes of good ol’ “handsome hunk” Salman, Alisha, Mayuresh, Siddhesh, Sunita, Prince & Jay Kumar Nair matching steps with Dharmesh, Shakti, Binny, Punit, Amar, Amrita & Saajan. If the buzz is anything to go by, the most breathtaking performance is undoubtedly the “Dhakka Laga Bukka” act choreographed by Master Remo wherein last season’s winner Salman and Punit defy gravity as they dance totally “ulta” resting their feet on an artificially constructed platform, hanging on to just a bundle of strings.
Geeta Kapoor’s comical rendition of ‘Lift kara De’ features Dharmesh ‘Sir’ and Siddhesh playing 2 struggling actors who’re broke and jobless. The twosome is said to have drawn a lot of seetis with this paisa vasool act! This year’s highest voted female contestant Shakti teams up with last year’s Jay Kumar Nair in Terence Lewis’s pop jazz interpretation of the classic Kajra Mohobbatwala where the duo pose as beggars who … ahem … well, dance! On a special request from Grandmaster Mithun Da, the two kings of “locking & popping” – last year’s Prince and the current favorite Dharmesh “sir” are said to have put up a jaw-dropping hip hop act for the audience. With a deluge of enthralling performances and an interesting assortment of the old and new dancing talent, the latest episode of this dance reality show is an absolute must-watch! Stay tuned to Lux Dance India Dance at 9:30 PM on Fridays & Saturdays on Zee TV.

Gabbar’s Birthday surprise - Master Remo D’souza gets a shock of his life on the eve of his birthday…!!
Come 5th April and the much celebrated bollywood choreographer and Master of Lux Dance India Dance Remo D’souza will turn a year older. And the Lux Dance India Dance crew had all the tricks up their sleeves to drop a bombshell on him!! Firstly, it was Grandmaster Mithun da’s unusual gift which had him totally awestruck! Remo unwrapped the package and to his delight found his old radio set which his parents had given him when he was striving hard to become a budding dancer. His craze for dance was so overpowering that every evening he used to take the radio set to the sea- side and practice dance religiously. Those were days when there weren’t too many opportunities for common people, especially in a small town like Jamnagar. Very few people know that Remo’s original name is ‘ Ramesh Gopi’. The crew played video tapes of friends, neighbors and family from Jamnagar who spoke highly of Remo and the success that he has achieved in his chosen field.
If one recollects, a few weeks back Remo had choreographed a routine on Saajan depicting how kids often forget their parents once they settle down in big cities. Amidst the glitz and glamour of city life, parents and family often take a back seat and are taken for granted. Remo had used this platform to apologize to his parents and spread message to all such kids for who parents have become last priority. In the VT, his sister said that he needn’t apologize for not having done enough for his family. They are extremely proud of him, his work and the success he has achieved in such a short period.
Caught in an emotional rollercoaster, Mithun da gives Remo another bolt from the blue. He goes backstage and gets his parents on the stage. A shell shocked Gabbar who is known for his tough exterior breaks down completely and falls on the stage. Totally overwhelmed he says, “For so many years I have wanted my parents to live with me but never once did they relent. Today DID has made the impossible possible. They were able to convince my parents which even I couldn’t do…. saat janmo tak nahin bhoolonga ye manch…ye pal.. thanks DID”. He touched his parents’ feet and gave a power packed performance which was ‘wow’ to say the least .
In this Remo special episode, it was Remo’s challenge to all the participants. The contestants had to live up to the styles specified by Remo sir. Accordingly they did various Hip Hop and Street Dance forms like – B- Boeing + Funk ( Kunwar Amarjeet) , Jabbawockies, (Saajan), Lyrical Hip- Hop (Dharmesh), Popping and Wacking ( Shakti) , Break dance ( Punit) , Crumping (Amrita) and Tutting (Binny).
We wish Master Remo Dsouza a very Happy Birthday and a great year ahead!

Hindi Serial - Dance India Dance - Getting Arshad Warsi and Dia Mirza on the show (promoting their movies)
Come Saturday night and Zee TV’s Lux Dance India Dance raises a toast to the most popular Bollywood jodis of all times! Masters Terence, Geeta & Remo are all set to have their participants pair up on stage to bring alive the magic of iconic twosomes like Anil-Madhuri, Rishi Kapoor-Dimple Kapadia and even Munnabhai-Circuit!
In an episode that has hottie Dia Mirza and everybody’s favorite Arshad Warsi in the audience, the masters are said to have left no stone unturned in ensuring that every act is a gorgeous Bollywood extravaganza!
While on the sets of Lux Dance India Dance to promote her upcoming film Hum Tum Aur Ghost, Dia revealed, “Master Remo was my first choreographer. This is way back when I’d bagged a video to be shot for Sonu Nigam’s album. Back in those days, I’d designated Remo as my official dance partner at all parties and we’d just dance till we dropped.” Going “Awwwww!” In unison, both Geeta Kapoor and Mithun Da ribbed Remo’s wife saying she ought to keep a watch on her man! Making matters worse for the poor lady, Remo asked Dia Mirza for a dance … and they waltzed away gloriously amidst much fanfare. Not a lesser dancer by any means, Arshad Warsi revealed that he’d represented India at a World Dance Championship, bagging an impressive runner-up trophy. Dia and Arshad were mighty impressed with Amar & Shakti from Terence Ki Toli who steamed up the stage with Anil Madhuri’s Dhak Dhak Karne Laga. Binny & Dharmesh from Geeta ki Gang wowed the duo with a very stylish waltz to the golden oldie Yeh Raatein Yeh Mausam Nadi Ka Kinara. As an exciting climax to a splendid evening, Arshad took to the stage and jived to his hit Ibn-e-Batuta. To catch the dance magic of Bollywood hottest pairs, tune into Lux Dance India Dance on Zee TV at 9:30 PM tonight!

Hindi Serials - Dance India Dance - Jeetendra on the sets of the dance show
The latest superstar to shake a leg with the finalists of Zee TV’s Lux Dance India Dance is “Jumping Jack” Jeetu! The evergreen heartthrob who made the ladies swoon in the 70’s and 80’s had all the girls on the sets of India’s biggest dance reality show raving about how young he still looks. When quizzed about his trademark “White shirt, white pants n white shoes” look, the actor said, “Dark clothes make me look short!” Heard this one before, guys? Quite an original perspective, Jeetu ji! As he stepped up on stage, Jeetendra said, “Let me first admit … I am deeply intimidated by all the dancers who’ve performed on this platform. Over the years, fans have loved me for my dance style. But these guys are just something else. They’re rockstars. I doubt if anybody can match steps with them!” Turning to Grand Master Mithun Da, he said, “Dada’s been a great friend and a source of inspiration in so many little ways.” Overwhelmed by the praise, Mithun Da interrupted him saying, “Please, Jeetu ji! It’s completely the other way around. I have always taken your guidance and followed your footsteps in the industry. You have been my idol for a very long time!”
In a bid to dazzle Jeetendra, the 3 masters and their teams are said to have presented acts depicting the famous dance styles of all their favorite Bollywood stars. Watching Shakti from Terence ki Toli bring alive the magic of Madhubala with Aaiye Meherebaan from Howrah Bridge, a floored Jeetu asked her who taught her all those lovely expressions. Playfully, Shakti pointed at her guru Terence Lewis who went red in the face! Jeetuji insisted, at this point, that Terence show them a glimpse of Madhubala and the ace choreographer had no choice but to oblige! Everybody’s favorite Dharmesh “sir” from Geeta Ki Gang brought the house down with a medley of dance hits from Jeetendra’s films and the superstar had tears in his eyes! All eyes were glued to the floor when Jeetu took to the dance floor with Mithun Da and Master Terence Lewis. To catch all this excitement and more, tune into Lux Dance India Dance on Fridays and Saturdays at 9:30 PM on Zee TV!

Dildaar Remo on Zee TV's Dance India Dance
He might have been named ‘ Gabbar’ for being little stern with the contestants last year, but this Gabbar actually has a heart of gold! Chotu Lohar belongs to a very impoverished family in Jharkhand and earns a meager living by cutting stones in the mines. Last season of DID invoked his passion for dance and he tried to learn the art by watching television. The passion drove him to Kolkata where Chotu left the mentors spell bound with his muscle flexing. “ Aap agar untrained hoke itna achha dance kar sakte ho….toh I wonder under training aap kitna achha perform karoge”, was Remo’s immediate reaction. A teary eyed chotu said, “ Sir, train karne ke liye paise kahan hai….pet bharne ke liye paise nahi hote, dance karne ke liye paise kahan se laoonga..”
Master Remo was so very moved by the boy’s dedication, that he offered a life changing proposition to him. “ main aapko letter deta hoon. aap mere dance academy mein jao aur apna training shuru karo …all free of cost.. aur DID 3 mein wapas aao..”
One word from Geeta ma had changed Sanjay Sinha’s life, we hope this will give a new dimension to Chotu’s life as well.

From US to India… to become the Dancing Star
The final 18 are yet to be selected in the Nation’s much waited dance show Lux Dance India Dance but one girl who is already making headlines is 21 year old Nikitasha Marwah from Washington DC. The first NRI to have reached this far is already touted as one of the strongest contenders of this season. Whoever has seen her perform can’t stop talking about the girl’s agility and versatility. It’s a surprise that inspite of being a gen x girl and being brought up in USA, Nikitasha harbors a keen interest in Indian Classical Dance. This North Indian kudi has trained herself in ‘one of a kind’ and relatively difficult dance forms - Mohoniattam and Kuchipudi, staying in Washington!
The bundle of surprises do not end here. Nikitasha also holds the title of ‘ Miss India Worlwide’. Not only has she become Remo’s pride , but also Geeta and Terence’s darling. They just cannot rave and rant enough about the girl’s professionalism. Says one of the trainers, “ She is an extremely obedient pupil and a gentle human being at the same time. Her dedication and eagerness to learn has really made her popular amongst one and all”.
Don’t miss the upcoming episodes of Lux Dance India Dance to catch Nikitasha’s mindblowing performances.

Zee Dance India Dance: Sisters cross swords for TRPs!
What happens when two sisters participate in two reality shows on competing channels slotted for telecast in the same time slot? It’s a war for TRPs under the same roof!!! Delhi girls Shakti Mohan and Neeti Mohan are sisters who have made it to Zee TV’s Lux Dance India Dance and Star Plus’s Amul Music Ka Maha Muqabla, two high-profile mega-budget reality shows scheduled for telecast in the same weekend primetime slot on the two competing channels. And what’s more … the girls are not exactly unknown. Neeti Mohan first shot to fame with Channel V’s Popstars 2, where she made it to the music band ‘Aasma’ that belted out the catchy pop number “Chandu ke Chacha Ne Chaandi Ke Chamche se…”.
A few years later, as readies herself to impress the judges on Star Plus’s music show, her sister Shakti is all set to dazzle the dance gurus with her moves on Zee TV’s Lux Dance India Dance. If the buzz is anything to go by, the two sisters bear a marked resemblance and are superlative at their respective art forms. So is the rivalry catching up at home? Shakti immediately clarified, “Oh no, not at all. We are extremely close as sisters and nothing matters to us more than each other’s happiness. We hope both the shows do exceedingly well. And that we get noticed for our talent. Just pray for both of us!” So, will it be Neeti who sets the TRP’s soaring for Star Plus or will Shakti prove lucky for Zee TV and dance up a TRP storm for Lux Dance India Dance? Only time will tell … stay tuned!

Zee TV - Dance India Dance starts again
In 2008 and parts of 2009, Dance India Dance was a popular program on Zee that allowed normal citizens to show their dance capabilities (and some of them were very good). This was compared to other dance reality shows that allowed stars (from all walks of life, but still well know people) to show their capabilities. Dance India Dance became much more popular as things moved on, with the master judge Mithun Chakraborty adding a nice touch to the whole proceedings.
Now, the show has re-started, and auditions are ongoing from city to city. There are huge crowds ready to audition, with the 3 judges being the ones to decide:
Terence Lewis
Geeta Kapur
Remo D'Souza
The host of the show was and is Jay Bhanushali
The show promises to be as exciting this time as it was last time.

Dance India Dance
Short post by vloverr
It is about one of the mentors on the show Dance India Dance. Geeta Kapoor says that she has built emotional ties with the show. She cries every time there are eliminations.
There was a time when all her team contestants except one got eliminated she felt very low, all around there was no hope. I guess it would have been an event which she hadn’t witnessed before.
I feel that mentors are also competing amongst them, after all that’s how things appear.

Siddhesh is pulled down to earth by Mithun Da on Dance India Dance
Much touted Maharashtra ka gaurav, Siddhesh Pai gets severely reprimanded by grandmaster Mithun da. Though he lauded him for his stupendous performance but at the same time did not forget to show him his rightful place. “I’m afraid your confidence doesn’t become over confidence. I can see that in your body language. If you want to reach the zenith of success you also have to learn to be humble and down to earth!”
Mithun Da was referring to the past couple of instances when Siddhesh’s attitude and high handedness came into the forefront. He challenged Prince openly. Tried to taunt him and put him down. Also disrespected Remo. There were also quite a few instances when Siddhesh’s attitude had made him an eye sore and one of the not so favored contestants.
It was time that someone of Mithun Da’s stature showed him his rightful place !

Jay Bhanushali loves being the butt of Mithun da’s jokes - story from Dance India Dance
Just when everybody was thinking that Mithun da has crossed all the limits and it’s about time Jay Bhanushali will storm out of Dance India Dance anytime… we come to know it’s just the other way round. Jay is actually basking in the attention that he is getting and not to mention the kisses being planted on him by Remo, Terence and Geeta again and again!
Any layman would vouch for the fact that as an anchor , Saumya Tandon always managed to steal the thunder away from Jay . The interesting lines and meaty punches always went to Saumya and Jay was kept to play the second fiddle.
Then one day Mithun da started pulling his leg just to ease off the tension on the sets. Then it happened again…. and again… till one thought that Jay will explode!
Some even said that Jay was planning to take this up with the authorities as he could not bear such insults on National Television.
But the latest grapevine from the sets claim that somebody with more grey matter than Jay advised him against it. In fact, made him realize the fact that actually people are enjoying his onscreen ‘gay- giri’ . The focus has once again shifted on him and he’s being talked about! Obviously its not everyday that one gets to dance and romance Mithun da.
Finally some light at the end of the tunnel …for Jay. This is called seeing the bottle half full rather than half empty!

Some stories from Dance India Dance on Zee TV
Dance India Dance mentor Remo D’ souza was on cloud nine on his recent visit to Ahmedabad. The ace choreographer who has always maintained a very low profile was taken aback by the kind of overwhelming response he received in Ahmedabad. Remo has very close connections with Gujarat. He was born and brought up in Jamnagar and hence is deeply influenced by Gujarati Culture and tradition.
Recently on his visit to Ahmedabad he was flabbergasted to see such a huge fan following. Along with Remo his two contestants Khushboo( from Gandhinagar) and Prince ( from Baroda) had also accompanied him to solicit viewers support.
A very touchy incident happened, on his way to the hotel from the airport, suddenly few policemen blocked his way without any reason. Just when Remo thought there was some reason to panic, a surprise sprung up! The policemen took him aside and greeted him with the ‘singh is kingh’ signature step! Not only that, also asked for his autograph.
Both Prince and Khushboo were totally speechless. They didn’t know how to write autographs and the crowd there was going berserk for their autographs!
Something similar had happened in Mumbai as well. On his way to Karjat for a movie shoot, people at the toll – naka stopped him, collected the toll and started yelling ‘Singh is King’.. Though Remo found it little embarrassing but did oblige them by shaking hands!
Thus Remo tasted the first kiss of fame!

Dance India Dance reaches towards a thrilling finish
Dance India Dance started out as being yet another Dance show on TV, but there is a difference. The judges seem more natural, not artificial like the judges on the jodi dance shows. In addition, getting ordinary people (any of the contestant could be a person who lives next door) to show-case their talents (as well as seeing their emotions, their reactions, etc) makes this show (appearing on Friday and Saturday) very exciting to watch.
Now the show is down to the last 7, these 7 being
1. Terence's team is called "Terence Ki Toli"
* Jai Kumar Nair
* Alisha Singh
2. Geeta's team is called "Geeta Ki Gang"
* Siddhesh Pai
* Sunita Gogoi
3. Remo's team is called "Remo Ke Rangeele"
* Khushboo Purohit
* Salman (Mohammed Ghouse)
* Prince R. Gupta
Unfortunately, one of the contestants who had seemed very promising had to bow out due to an injury (fracture) sustained during one of the dances, and even though the contestant Mangesh wanted to contest, Mithun sorrowfully had to eliminate him. That was sad, but the health of the contestants has to be paramount.
Video of Mangesh performing on "maa" from Taare Zameen Par
Mangesh and Prince
These were very impressive, but the other dancers have also been pretty good, so need to see how they perform going ahead. One interesting thing has been that Mithun makes the gurus perform the same stunt if he feels that the stunt performed by the dancer could have been dangerous. Also, Mithun is allowed one 'veto', and he used that to prevent Khushboo from getting eliminated.

Dance India Dance on Zee TV
The regular dance contests on TV are the 2 main ones of Jhalak Dikhla Ja and Nach Baliye, and both of them center around getting unusual celebrities to do the dancing (so you have TV stars, magicians, singers, cooks, etc). What about the Indian Idol equivalent, where normal people get the chance to show their singing abilities ? Well, Dance India Dance is a chance where talented normal dancers get a chance to make their talents known on national television.
So, the program had auditions in many cities where people had the chance to show their dance routine to the judges, be selected, and then a further process of selection to narrow down the list to 18. These 18 were then allotted to the 3 dance gurus, and then show their performances (including individual and double performances) and be judged for further movement. The 3 gurus also had to start nominating 2 of their contestants for judging, and then were selected by the Grand Master for approval, or for removal.
The 3 judges are (all famous dance choreographers):
# Terrence Lewis ... Judge
# Geeta Kapur ... Judge
# Remo D'Souza ... Judge
The Grand Master is Mithun Chakraborty
The hosts for the show are:
* Jay Bhanushali
* Saumya Tandon
Current people present in the contest are:
Jai Kumar Nair
Alisha Singh
Mayuresh Wadkar
Vrushali Chavan
Siddesh Pai
Bhavana Purohit
Khushboo Purohit
Rakhee Sharma
In addition, 12 of the previous contestants who were eliminated were selected for a wild card entry, a chance to again try for being among 3 contestants who will be selected again for the contest.
Some of these performances have been very impressive, and probably the most impressive performance has been by a disabled man from Gujrat called Kamlesh. Here is a video of Kamlesh's performance again (second part of this video and starting point of the next video):
