The 8-11 slot is the one that is most wanted by serials, just for the number of people who are able to watch it. Serials who get a slot in these time slots enjoy increased viewership. Also making a big difference is the stability of the time slot. If the time slot of a serial is changed, that makes a big difference to its viewership, and since Saab Bin Sasural was changed from 10 to 9, there has been a fall in its TRP; also, maybe the serial brought in the incredibly bad Kia sequence, it has really got boring.
The fact that a father could force his son to disregard his own romance and marry somebody else is incredible, and the fact that the son could break the heart of another girl and her parents just to obey the wish of his father (who in turn did not obey the wish of his own father, who was also against the forced marriage).
Now, the marriage happened and Kia was married to Ved; and it was clear to people such as Ved, Toasty and Tej that Kia had no interest in the marriage, and there must have been some other motives for the marriage. However, Cheddi had made it clear that he considered no problems with Kia, and blamed Toasty and Malthi to some extent for the problems that Kia seemed to have in adjusting in the house. And, for some reason, Tej was not even willing to support Toasty in the doubts that she had over Kia, something that should have enraged Toasty to a large extent.
And then the final issue is that of Jay, who suddenly appeared on the scene, stalking Kia for some time, and since it seemed that Kia was afraid of. It became clear that there was a relationship between Kia and Jay, and Toasty is trying to get the household to see the clear relations between Jay and Kia, in such a way that Kia would get exposed.

So, the marriage has happened for Ved, and this was a long awaited marriage. However, it was not the marriage that everyone was looking for. He finally got pressured to marry Kia rather than Nitika (whom he was in love with), just because of the pressure put on him by his father, Chedi. Everybody else in the family was against him marrying Kia, but the emotional pressure put on him by his father was just too much.
So, the marriage has happened. Tej and Toasty, and even Pashu were disgusted. And pretty soon, Kia started showing her true colors (although if you think about it, when she was given such a bad condition in her father's will, where she had to marry Ved and remain married for one year, what else could she have done ? Would she have allowed all her inheritance to go away ?); on the night of the marriage, she had drunk enough that Ved could detect that she was drinking. She sent Ved to get her some black coffee, and since Toasty could see that Ved was doing something, she also learnt that Kia was upto something.
Next, it was clear that there was no question of any physical relationship between Kia and Ved; and in fact, since for Kia it was only a compromise relation, she was just able to barely stand the things she was seeing - the waiting time for the common bathroom, the expectation that she would have to help out in the house, and so on. She also seemed to make it clear that it would be foolish to expect her to work in the house, and in fact, Pitaji seemed to blame Toasty and Malti for not letting her work in the kitchen. But then Kia seemed to realize that she has to make the marriage work for 1 year, so she needs to mellow down.

Hindi TV Serial - Saas Bin Sasural - Tragedy for Nitika, since Ved marries Kiya

The serial has gone through a lot of drama in the past, with the arrival of Kia. When Pitaji was away, Ved had finally agreed to marry Nitika, something that was a bit difficult because Ved refused to reconcile himself to the thought that he was in love with somebody, but finally decided to marry Nitika. And then Pitaji came with Kia, the daughter of his dead friend, to whom he had given a promise that he will get his son Ved married to Kia. For Kia, this was extremely important, since as per her father's will, she would not able to get her father's money unless she married Ved and did not divorce him before an year. As a result, she was willing to do whatever necessary to ensure that her marriage happened (and this was bad for her, since her father had put such a strange condition in his will, and something that was causing her to behave in this way; who would want to lose money that should have come to them).
However, in the face of constant pressure from the family, Ved finally agrees that he is in love with Nitika, and will marry her and not Kia, no matter that Chhedi wants this to happen. Kia also seems to back down and says that she is happy for the marriage of Nitika and Ved. So preparation for the marriage happens, with shopping and all. Nitika is very happy with all this, although one can see in the face of Kia that she is planning something that will change all this.
And so it happens, when Kia plans that Nitika will not reach the marriage mandap, and at the final moment, Chedi applies a lot of pressure and bemoans that his son will not even respect the pledge he gave to Kia's father; and so Ved backs down and decides to marry Kia. Everybody else is against this, but Ved finally agrees. Nitika is badly hurt at all this.

Hindi TV Serial - Saas Bin Sasural - Kia wanting to marry Ved because of conditions of the will

The name of the serial, SaaS Bin Sasural sounds a bit strange now. Earlier, the serial was about a house where there are no women, and where the only daughter-in-law had walked out some time back. And then you had the first lady in the house, in the form of Toasty, who after some amount of decision and discussion finally made it into the house. And slowly, over a period of time, after some tension over some items, she even resolves the issues between Malthi and Pashu, and over the objections of Pitaji and Ved, she gets Malthi back into the house and slowly gets people to overcome the objections that they may have.
Now, the biggest test was about the relationship between Ved and Nitika, with Ved determined for some time to believe that he is a bachelor, but finally the rest of the family managed to convince him that he was in love with Nitika, and Ved finally realized his true feelings and decided that marrying Nitika was the one option for him.
And then the disturbance occurred in the form of Kia. Kia was the daughter of a friend of Pitaji, who had recently died; and apparently Chedi had promised Kia's father that he would get Kia married to Ved. Now, Kia is a modern girl, from London, and for her, the concept of such a family, living with conservative ideals, in a house with only one bathroom, was something very different. But, soon the house was shocked to learn that as per Pitaji, Ved would have to marry Kia, and since Pitaji did not know about Nitika, there was no involvement from his side in the concept of the romance between Ved and Nitika.
But there was a lot of thoughts about why Kia would do this, since there was nothing common between her and Ved. But the complication in the entire scene was an atrocious will made by her father, which mandated that Kia would get his money only if she married Ved and stayed married for a year; over which Kia was shocked, but she realized that she would have to win over the members of the household if she wanted her money.

Hindi TV Serial - Saas Bin Sasural - Competition between Pashu and Tej, and then Tej's accident

The competition between Pashu and Tej over the past few weeks has been shown to be much more tense than in the past; ever since Tej felt that Pashu was dictating terms to him and not treating him very well. He finally decided that it would be difficult to work with Pashu any more (and Pashu was also actually being very impatient with Tej, taking all his comments with great criticism, and replying back sharply to some of these comments).
Finally, Tej decided that enough is enough, and he decided to do a business for himself, and he knew one line of business, and so decided to open a saree shop just like Pashu was running the family saree shop. He got part of the financing through his mother-in-law, something that caused some amount of distress in the Chaturvedi household, although when Tej named the shop after his later mother, that seemed to reduce the opposition to some degree.
And then the competition between the 2 brothers increased to a large degree, with both of them trying to out-compete against each other, keeping their shops open for a larger amount of time, or even offering discounts, something that the head of the family normally discouraged as a business practice. Finally Pitaji decided that this competition was getting very unhealthy and reduced the amount of time he had given to both of them to decide which one was more successful.
Finally, when the accounts were to be checked, Toasty, in order to reduce some of the conflicts in the family, gave the winning position to Pashu (and not Tej) (and this was very confusing, since the rationale did not seem to be very proper). The condition was that whoever lost would close his shop and merge it with the other one, and in the end, this win and loss was actually more confusing to both of them. Tej was very unhappy when he found what Toasty had done.
Then things turned more serious. Tej went off to Pune for some work for Pashu's shop, and then Toasty heard that the bus had gone over a cliff and everybody had died; and is now searching hospitals for any sign of Tej. A lot of tragedy for the family, but eventually I am sure that Tej will be found.

Hindi TV Serial - Saas Bin Sasural - Toasty and Malti to try and resolve some tensions

The show keeps on getting in a mode where there is tension between the brothers, and then time is spent in trying to resolving such issues. One major issue was resolved where Malti was brought into the house by resolving the tension between her and Pashu, and objections of others was resolved to some degree (although Ved still projects a great deal of hostility and tension). However, Toasty was also trying to resolve this by ensuring that Malti was in a position to do everything in the house and replacing the prominent position of Toasty.
Things seem to be getting worse in terms of tension between the brothers. Pashu objects to the pressure on Malti, stating that people forget that the same pressure was there on Toasty when she came in, and she had to face the same kind of pressures and problems, and was able to deal with them. However, Tej objects to the name of Toasty being brought in, and the tension between Pashu and Tej increases.
This becomes much more significant when there is an issue relating to the shop. There is an amount of stock of the sarees getting spoiled because of rain, and the vendor who supplied the sarees shows dissatisfaction about the business practices being followed. Pashu gets very angry at what has happened, and takes his anger out at Tej in front of all the customers. Tej is very angry at this, and goes off to this inlaws house to talk to Toasty about this. Toasty's mother overhears about this, and is concerned even though her husband states that this is their internal matter and the parents should not be involved in this.

Hindi TV Serial - Saas Bin Sasural - Toasty trying to help Malti integrate into the house

Toasty is being shown in the serial as the lady who managed to make her mark in the male only house (enough though she faced a lot of barriers in the beginning). Now, she is the on whom the while household depends on.
She also managed to resolve some other matters in the house, the most remarkable being the relationship that the house had with its elder daughter-in-law, Malthi. She had left the house after being instigated by her mother, and the separation had been traumatic, with the house people being accused of tormenting their daughter-in-law. One of her brother-in-laws, Ved, was condemned as somebody who was casting evil eyes on his bhabhi, something that he remembers now and is very deeply stressed over.
Toasty is able to get most of the problems between Malthi, Pashu, and the others in the house resolved. She is able to get even Pitaji agreeable to bring Malti back (although there are a couple of times that she has to face criticism from the people over all this). Now that Malti bhabhi is back in the house, the next step is to ensure that she is accepted by everybody in the house. The problem now is that everybody is dependent on Toasty for everything, such as food, clothes, and everything else. In such a situation, Malthi feels a bit left out (and Ved is still hostile at her).
Toasty makes a lot of effort to ensure that the people in the house have to deal with Malthi, including leaving the house for some time to ensure that Malti gets a free run and everybody learns that she can easily take the place of Toasty and so that they can become dependent on her. So far this is working out.

Hindi TV Serial - Saas Bin Sasural - Everybody helping Pashu when he is kicked out for meeting Malthi

The show is a serious show about a family where there is no woman except for the new daughter-in-law, Toasty. Except that the show does not get serious too much, and there is always some sort of comical sequence to lighten up the show and ensure that the show remains watchable. In the current sequence of activities, Toasty was trying her best to ensure that her elder sister-in-law, Malthi is brought back to the family. Malthi and Pashu had a big falling out, and Malthi caused huge harm to the family by accusing them of demanding dowry; police came and took them away. All this caused the family to start hating Malthi, and hence any demand to bring her back would be opposed to a large degree. However, Toasty was trying her best to ensure that the relationship comes back to track, and she has made significant progress, by being able to persuade many of the family members, including Pashu. They can also see changes in Malthi, whereby she was regretful of the damage that she did and the accusations that she made.
However, the Pitaji in the house is not happy with the attempt to reconcile with Malthi, and tells Pashu to get out of the house for meeting Malthi secretly, now the rest of the family has brought Pashu back into the house and are trying to keep him hidden from Pitaji, while also seeing how Pitaji can be made to change his mind. They are trying to see how Pitaji can be made to miss Pashu and thus allow him to come back.
Malthi has also takem a strong step in changing her life by banishing her mother back to the village, since it was the mother who kept on her moving her away from Pashu, provoking her, and this sending away of the mother could change a lot of things.

Hindi TV Serial - Saas Bina Sasural - A fairly new serial on Sony TV about a girl's marriage into a all male household

A lot of serials are made on the concept of the conflict within a household once new daughter-in-laws enter the house, especially the conflict between the saas of the house and the daughter-in-law; so when a serial came in with the tagline that what happens when there is no mother-in-law in the house or even when there is no single girl in the house.
This is the story of Taanya (who is also known as 'Toasty', played by Aishwarya Sakhuja), who is a beautiful and intelligent modern girl. She is in love with a young man named Tej (Ravi Dube as Tejprakash Chaturvedi). They are sure that they want to marry, but Tej has a secret, his family consists entirely of men, with not a single women in the house. This can cause a lot of problem for any girl's family given the fact that a house with only men could be considered uncouth and not fit for a girl.
However, Toasty is determined to make a good wife and daughter-in-law and moves into the house, with the house filled with characters who seem strange to her. There is the grandfather and head of the family who is very favorable to Taanya, and then other people in the house, with most of them elder to Tej. They are all living their own lives, work for the same shop that they own. And it is difficult for them to adjust to a newcomer in the house who can change a lot of the way stuff happens in the house; and slowly Toasty is learning more about what happens in the house.
She has a lot of support from Tej, but in some cases, it is difficult for Tej to also do anything when his elders put pressure on him to get Toasty to modify something or the other - she is turn is very gentle and is trying her best to ensure that things happen well.
